Calhoun W. Cox, Jr., Founder

Cal Cox grew up in Seneca, South Carolina and received his Bachelor of Science from Clemson University in 1964.

He served in the Army Corps of Engineers/Special Forces for seven years and is a veteran of the Vietnam War.

Cal worked in the construction industry for 36 years and founded Calcon Constructors in 1981 in Denver, Colorado.

Throughout the years, Cal served as the President of the Associated General Contractors of Colorado, as well as on numerous boards and committees. 

James P. Bosshart, Co-Founder and Chairman

Jim graduated with distinction from Iowa State University with a Bachelor of Science in Construction Engineering.

Jim co-founded Calcon Constructors in 1981 and currently serves as Chairman. He is involved in all business aspects, including marketing, estimating, project management and office management.

Jim is very involved in the industry; he has served on many committees, including a position as Executive Committee Board of Directors for the Associated General Contractors of Colorado.

Joseph S. Gallion, Jr., CEO

Joe, who received his education from Colorado State University, has been with Calcon since 1982, and currently serves as the company’s CEO.

Joe is responsible for all business aspects, including: marketing, estimating, project management and field management.

He remains very active in the construction industry, and has held positions as the Chairman of Colorado Neurological Institute, Chairman of the Board for Southwest Family YMCA and as the past President of the Construction Industry Training Council.

Presently, Joe sits on the board of AGC Colorado and is a member of the National Western Stock Show.

When not in the office, Joe enjoys golfing, skiing, cycling and traveling.

Brian Mortimore, President

Brian has been with Calcon since 1999 and is currently a President of the company. He is a proud CSU alumnus and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management.

With over 20 years of experience in Project Management, Brian is a vital asset to Calcon’s customers and vendors.

Brian has completed many notable projects for Calcon in the retail, technical, healthcare and mixed-use categories.

He is LEED AP certified and a Certified Healthcare Constructor.

In his free time, Brian enjoys golf, the outdoors and spending family time with his wife and twin girls.

Jim Sexton, Vice President and CFO


Jim Sexton has dedicated his career to construction-related accounting and finance since relocating to Colorado in 1999. Joining the Calcon Team in 2013, he brings extensive expertise as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and Certified Construction Industry Financial Professional (CCIFP). Jim earned his Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Northern Illinois University.

Currently serving as CFO, Vice President, and Stockholder, he oversees all facets of accounting, financial reporting, information technology (IT), and human resources (HR).

Outside the office, Jim finds solace in golfing and exploring the great outdoors of Colorado.

Aaron Rieger, Vice President of Preconstruction 

Aaron Rieger has spent his entire career in the construction industry, dedicating his time to delivering high-quality projects through both preconstruction and construction. Since joining Calcon in 2013, he has risen through the ranks to become our Vice President of Preconstruction, consistently delivering exceptional projects from design development through launch. Aaron holds a B.S. in Construction Management from Colorado State University and an M.S. in Real Estate and Construction Management from the University of Denver. With his commitment to high standards and a detailed, hands-on approach, Aaron is always excited to invest in the team’s vision and help bring showcase projects to life.

Outside the office, Aaron enjoys spending time with his wife and two young children hiking and traveling. He also loves gardening, cooking, and golfing. When traveling, he prefers to explore new countries and take the paths less traveled.

Casey Mills, Vice President of Operations

Casey Mills is a Colorado native and Vice President of Operations at Calcon Constructors, where he also serves as a Project Manager on key developments. Since joining Calcon in 2013, Casey has provided strategic leadership and hands-on oversight to some of the firm’s most complex and high-profile projects across Colorado.

A graduate of Colorado State University with a degree in Construction Management and a minor in Business Administration, Casey is known for his collaborative approach, operational insight, and deep expertise in CM/GC delivery. He plays a critical role in aligning teams, managing logistics, and driving accountability from preconstruction through closeout.

Outside of work, Casey enjoys golfing and spending time with his wife and three daughters.

Project Manager

A Project Manager at Calcon Constructors, Inc. is charged with the responsibility of preconstruction, planning and executing projects from conception to completion to ensure safe projects and desirable outcomes for our Clients and Company. Since nearly all of our work is negotiated with repeat and referral clients we must ensure that our projects are well planned, whether they are small or large.

 

General responsibilities include:

  • Assist in preconstruction activities for projects $10M – $30M to which you are assigned (including conceptual / budget estimating, Value Engineering and Drawing / MEP system coordination).
  • Aid in the Preparation of the final estimate and execute the final bid process on projects to which you are assigned (including reviewing subcontractor scopes, Calcon labor/ self-performed activities and jurisdiction costs).
  • Prepare subcontracts / purchase agreements for projects.
  • Perform job costing, change pricing, and ensure commitment revisions are managed internally and externally.
  • Oversight and management of Project Engineer’s assigned to project.
  • Review submittals making sure they are accurately reviewed and coordinated, & materials are being procured in conformance with the project schedule.
  • Create & track project schedules in conjunction with Superintendent so that they are on track and develop recovery strategies in the event they are needed.
  • Generate billings in conformance with contract requirements.
  • Create accurate cost projections for projects to assist in company reporting.
  • Perform project closeout in conformance with the contract and to the Owners satisfaction.
  • Foresee potential problems and organize the team to avoid/resolve issues before they impact the project(s).
  • Resolve common project problems to maintain good business relationships and outcomes for Calcon.

 

Qualifications:

  • B.S. degree in Engineering, Construction Management or equivalent field/experience.
  • Five years project management experience on projects up to $20M in size.
  • Background in General Contracting with emphasis on mid-size ground up projects.
  • Solid computer skills; Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Procore, Excel, and scheduling software.
  • Verifiable work references demonstrating exceptional skills and achievements including:
  1. High level of professionalism; Dependable, results-focused and ethical
  2. History of delivering on projects and commitments and strong communication with internal stakeholders (e.g. Superintendents) and externally with Owner, Architect/Engineer, and subcontractors
  3. Strong organization, multi-tasking and planning skills
  4. Excellent customer service orientation and verbal written communication skills
  5. Successful completion of post-offer background and drug screens

 

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Salary: $110,000 to $150,000 commensurate with experience
  • Benefits: Excellent benefit package including medical, dental, vision, and options for life insurance, STD, LTD, 401K, HSA, Section 125, Paid Time Off, and holidays, bonus compensation, service awards, & a fitness program.
  • Project locations are in Colorado
